Arte and ZDF to broadcast world premiere of South Pole, starring Rolando Villazón

This weekend’s world premiere of South Pole will be broadcast and livestreamed from the Bayerische Staatsoper by Arte and ZDF. Composer Miroslav Srnka and playwright Tim Holloway’s work stars Rolando Villazón and Thomas Hampson as Robert Scott and Roald Amundsen, respectively, and follows their parallel quests to become the first explorer to reach the South Pole.

Arte will begin both a webcast and television broadcast on a time delay this Sunday when the work premieres at the Bayerische Staatsoper. French audiences can tune in beginning at 22h40, local time.

German fans can tune in at the same time to ZDF to watch the presentation.
