Eugene Onegin at Wiener Staatsoper March 7 to 14
Following his acclaimed return to the Metropolitan Opera this past fall in Eugene Onegin, Rolando Villazón reprises his portrayal of Lenski in performances of Tchaikovsky’s opera March 7, 10, & 14 at the Wiener Staatsoper. The production – staged by Falk Richter and conducted by Patrick Lange – sees Rolando onstage opposite Mariusz Kwiecien as Onegin, Dinara Alieva as Tatjana, and Nadia Krasteva as Olga.
Rolando’s recent performance as Lenski at the Metropolitan Opera garnered critical praise: “His impassioned delivery and heartfelt demeanor rendered his portrayal of the love-struck young poet entirely convincing” (The New York Times).
Looking ahead, Rolando presents a Liederabend at the Musikverein Graz on March 19, before kicking off his Mozart Concert Arias tour on March 28 at Prague’s Smetana Hall.
