International release: Così fan tutte, second installment of Deutsche Grammophon Mozart cycle
Today Deutsche Grammophon releases internationally a complete recording of Così fan tutte, the second installment of Rolando Villazón, conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and the Yellow Label’s cycle of Mozart’s seven mature operas. Recorded live in a 2012 concert from the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the album captures Rolando’s role debut as Ferrando, a performance whose effect was “so convincing that it was as if the role was written for him,” wrote Pforezheimer Zeitung. “Villazón conveyed Ferrando’s love and suffering with a round sound and splendid vocal lines.” “Villazón shines as the importunate lover Ferrando,” raves Die Welt.
The album’s cast sees Miah Persson as Fiordiligi, Angel Brower as Dorabella, Adam Plachetka as Gugliemo, Mojca Erdmann as Despina, and Alessandro Corbelli as Don Alfonso.
