Rolando kicks off ¡México! tour with performance at Berlin’s Philharmonie

On the heels of his La Scala debut as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Rolando Villazón kicked off an 11-city European tour with the Bolivar Soloists on Tuesday, November 2 in Berlin.  At the end of the two-hour-long program, which featured songs from ¡México!, Rolando’s new recording from Deutsche Grammophon, the audience in the Berlin Philharmonie rose to celebrate the musicians with a 15-minute standing ovation.

Critics praised the program as “lively” and “inspiring,” and as “pairing sophisticated style with fascinating rhythmic drive”.  In its review, the Berliner Morgenpost wrote, “Villazon gives 200%. He is vocally on fire… he has done it: he has inspired a fantastic Fiesta Mexicana. The 200th anniversary of Mexican independence – it could not be celebrated more beautifully.”

The next concerts dates are:

San Sebastian, November 5
Paris, November 8 and 12
Munich, November 15
