Rolando sings first of four Nemorinos this season in Zurich

Rolando Villazón portrays one of his signature comic roles, the lovesick Nemorino in Donizetti’s masterpiece L’elisir d’amore, four times this season: first in a production opening December 11 at the Zurich Opernhaus, and later in performances at the Vienna Staatsoper (February 18 and 21) and the Berlin Staatsoper (March 2, 8, and 15). In May Rolando plays the dual role of singer and director for the first time, staging a new production of L’elisir at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus. Rolando made his directorial debut earlier this year at the Opéra de Lyon, presiding over a production of Massenet’s Werther.
