Rolando sings title role of Mozart’s Lucio Silla at Salzburg Festival, under baton of Marc Minkowski

This Saturday Rolando Villazón returns to the Salzburg Festival in the title role of Mozart’s Lucio Silla. The Mexican French tenor portrays the dictator of Rome, in love with Giunia – the daughter of his enemy Caius Marius – in a production by director Marshall Pynkoski. The performances, which take place July 27 to August 4, feature conductor Marc Minkowski who leads the esteemed Musiciens du Louvre de Grenoble

Rolando previously starred in this production of Lucio Silla as part of Salzburg’s Mozartwoche. “As for Rolando Villazón’s Lucio Silla,” Le Monde wrote of the performances, “he remains an exceptional artist, a volcanic and exacerbated tyrant whose surrender…. is a magical moment.” Click here for details.
