Rolando to co-host ECHO Klassik 2012 Awards


Rolando Villazón will join TV presenter and actress Nina Eichinger to host the 2012 ECHO Klassik Awards at a gala on October 14 at the Berlin Konzerthaus. The ceremony will be broadcast by ZDF at 22:00 CET. The award, bestowed by the Deutsche Phono-Akademie – the cultural institute of the German music industry association – honors outstanding recordings by German and international classical artists. This year’s award ceremony will feature performances by artists such as David Garrett, Philippe Jaroussky, Anna Prohaska, and Erwin Schrott, among many others, all led by conductor Vasily Petrenko.

The Mexican-French tenor is a five-time winner of the ECHO Klassik Award, most recently in 2011 in the category of “Classical Music without Boundaries,” for his Deutsche Grammophon album ¡México!.
