Rolando Villazón hosts BBC documentary ‘The Genius of Verdi’ on May 10

On May 10 BBC Four airs the The Genius of Verdi, a one-hour exploration of the inimitable Italian composer’s best-known works. Hosted by Rolando, the documentary features the Mexican French tenor interviewing leading Verdi singers, conductors, and theatre directors to uncover further insights about Verdi’s music and to spotlight the historic figure’s consummate skill as a composer. Rolando will also examine the stories and historical contexts behind such works as Rigoletto, La traviata, and the Requiem to shed further light on how this iconic music came to be. The program, which airs on May 10 at 7:30pm GMT, is part of the BBC’s celebration of Verdi’s 200th Birthday. Discover more here.
