Rolando Villazón joins Mormon Tabernacle Choir for annual Christmas concert

Tenor Rolando Villazón will be this year’s featured guest artist in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s 2016 Christmas concert.

A beloved tradition in Utah, the annual musical celebration highlights the 360-strong Grammy Award- and multiple Emmy Award-winning choir, accompanied by the 200-person Orchestra at Temple Square and the 32-member handbell choir Bells on Temple Square.

Performances take place December 8, 9, and 10 at the LDS Conference Center with free tickets available starting Saturday, October 15 at 10 a.m. MDT. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at lds.org/events, with patrons being able to request up to four tickets online. Click here for more details.

Rolando will also join the Choir, Orchestra, and Bells for “Music and the Spoken Word” on December 11, a non-ticketed event that will be broadcast at 9:30 a.m. MDT. The program is available on BYU Broadcasting and BYU Radio and will also be live streamed from MormonTabernacleChoir.org and on the Choir’s YouTube channel.

Earlier this year, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir released a recording of Handel’s Messiah on its in-house label, featuring Rolando as the tenor soloist. Click here to add the recording to your collection.
