Rolando Villazón joins Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Thomas Hampson for Klassik am Odeonsplatz
Following a landmark 15-city Verdi tour, Rolando Villazón lands in Munich for the city’s annual summer open-air concert, Klassik am Odeonsplatz. Rolando joins conductor Yannick Nézet-Seguin (his colleague on the Deutsche-Grammophon cycle of Mozart/Da Ponte operas) as well as baritone Thomas Hampson and the Symphonieorchester und Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks for an evening of operatic classics, one that is now sold-out, on July 6.
Verdi once again factors into the tenor’s schedule with selections from the composer’s Don Carlo and his romance “L’esule.” He can also be heard in Rodrigue’s scene from Massenet’s Le Cid, “Ah! Tout est bien fini… O souverain, ô juge, ô père.” Other featured composers in the concert include Wagner and Ravel.
