Rolando Villazón nominated for two Classic BRIT Awards

Rolando Villazón has been nominated for two 2011 Classic BRIT Awards in the categories of Album of the Year, for his UK-exclusive recording Tenor, and Best Male Artist of the Year.  Formerly known as the Classical Brit Awards, voting for the awards is done by “an academy of industry executives, the media, the British Association of Record Dealers (BARD), members of the Musicians Union, lawyers, promoters, and orchestra leaders,” except for “Album of the Year,” which is voted on by listeners of Classic FM.  The Classic BRIT Awards will be held on May 12, 2011 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. At last year’s Classical BRIT Awards, Rolando received a Critics’ Award for his recording of Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra e Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
