Rolando wins two Echo Klassik Awards, including “Klassik ohne Grenzen” Award
Yesterday Rolando was named the recipient of the 2011 Echo Klassik “Klassik ohne Grenzen,” or “Classical Music Without Borders,” Award for his album ¡México!. This annual award honors an exceptional recording of non-traditional repertoire. Rolando earned a second Echo Klassik award this year for his portrayal of the titular character in Virgin Classics’ recording of Vivaldi’s Ercole sul Termondonte, which was awarded the 2011 Operneinspielung des Jahres (17.18. Jh.), celebrating the best opera recording of a work from the 17th or 18th century. Rolando will accept his award on October 2 at the Echo Klassik awards ceremony in Berlin. Also in Berlin in early August, Rolando will record new episodes of the television show on ZDF/Arte, “Stars von morgen” or “Stars of Tomorrow,” to be aired in early 2012.
