Summer performances in Munich, Leipzig, Salzburg, and Bremen
Following a triumphant new role debut with Martinu’s Juliette in Berlin, Rolando Villazón looks ahead to a summer of operas and concerts in Germany and Austria.
The star tenor begins with a return to the Bayerische Staatsoper for the 2016 Münchner Opernfestspiele next month. On July 5, he begins with a one-night-only revival of one of his other acclaimed role debuts from the 2015-16 season, that of Robert Falcon Scott in Miroslav Srnka’s South Pole.
Rolando then takes to the concert stage in August, beginning with a a recital at the Leipzig Gewandhaus on August 20, which is followed by an encore recital at the Haus für Mozart on August 26 as part of the Salzburg Festival. His summer closes out with a concert performance of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo at Musikfest Bremen, which reunites him with his Juliette costar Magdalena Kozena, on September 3.
