Treasures of Bel Canto, Rolando Villazón’s latest studio album, available for pre-order

Today marks the pre-sale date for Rolando Villazón’s Treasures of Bel Canto, the tenor’s latest studio recording for Deutsche Grammophon. Recorded with the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and conductor Marco Armiliato, this October 2 release sees Rolando returning to the roots of the Italian romantic vocal tradition with a selection of exquisite melodies of simple beauty and passion written by the greatest of Italian opera composers including Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, and Verdi.

Well known favorites include Rossini’s “La danza,” Bellini’s “Vaga luna,” and Rossini’s “Les Amants de Séville,” the lattermost track recorded with Cecilia Bartoli, Rolando’s costar in the Salzburg Festival’sIphigénie en Tauride as well as his concert partner on tour in Europe this December.
