New Album: “Duets” with Ildar Abdrazakov & Yannick Nézet-Séguin

Rolando Villazón joins bass Ildar Abdrazakov, conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and Montreal’s Orchestre Métropolitain on a new album release, “Duets,” out in September 2017 on Deutsche Grammophon.

Villazón and Abdrazakov, who first appeared together in a 2009 production of Lucia di Lammermoor, reunite for their first album together. “Duets” spotlights a selection of pieces from operas by Bizet, Boito, Donizetti, Gounod, and Verdi, plus a tribute to the singers’ home countries of Mexico and Russia.

On this album Rolando continues to explore a longtime artistic relationship with Yannick Nézet-Séguin, whom he first met in 2008 for a production of Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at the Salzburger Festspiele. The two have since collaborated extensively on recording, releasing a selection of Mozart operas on the Deutsche Grammophon label.

Stay tuned for more on the “Duets” release.
