Pelléas et Mélisande at Staatsoper Hamburg

This November, Rolando returns to the role of Pelléas in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande at Staatsoper Hamburg.

Inspired by the inflection of natural speech, Debussy’s impressionistic work is based on the symbolist play of the same name by Maurice Maeterlinck. The opera revolves around the mysterious love triangle involving Pelléas, his imposing brother Golaud (Simon Keenlyside), and the fascinating Mélisande (Anna Prohaska), unfolding in a dark tale of jealousy, treachery, and a desperate hunt for truth.

Kent Nagano conducts Staatsoper Hamburg Orchestra in this production by Willy Decker. Performances run November 15, 17, 20, and 23.
