Performing at the George Enescu Festival

This September, Rolando Villazón joins the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest for three performances, beginning September 10.

Rolando begins his time at the festival in recital with frequent collaborator Carrie-Ann Matheson, presenting an evening of music from Spain and Latin America (September 10). The recital includes selected works by Manuel de Falla, Federico Mompou, Fernando Obradors, Carlos Gustavino, and Silvestre Revueltas.

The festival continues with a Mozartwoche residency, which features “Allerliebster Papa” on September 19. For this special performance, Rolando reads from Mozart’s letters to his father, as violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and pianist Maximilian Kromer perform Mozart’s corresponding sonatas.

On September 20, Rolando joins soprano Mojca Erdmann for an evening of Mozart’s operatic arias, as well as Mozart’s “Haffner” Symphony, performed by the Camerata Salzburg. Soloists Akiko Suwanai (violin) and Timothy Ridout (viola) join for Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola, and Orchestra.
