Spring Highlights: Mozartwoche 2018 and Die Fledermaus at Deutsche Oper Berlin
Rolando begins 2018 on February 4 with the final concert of Mozartwoche 2018, joined by sopranos Regula Mühlemann and Siobhan Stagg. As the Mozart ambassador of the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation and the Artistic Director of Mozartwoche, Rolando brings his immense fascination with and appreciation for Mozart’s life and work to this joyful concert. Later in February, the Mexican tenor travels to Wiener Staatsoper for three performances as Lenski in Eugene Onegin (February 25, 28 and March 3). He is joined by Olga Berzsmertna as Tatiana and Mariusz Kwiecien as Eugene Onegin in this production directed by Falk Richter and conducted by Louis Langrée.
Following Eugene Onegin, Rolando performs a concert version of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo at the Müpa Budapest Early Music Festival (March 10). He is joined by the acclaimed early music ensemble L’Apeggiata, which is headed by the wonderful lute player Christina Pluhar. Rolando continues to perform in concert throughout the spring, performing on March 16 (Musikkollegium Winterthur), March 18 (KKL Luzern), May 5 (Maison Symphonique de Montréal), and May 21 (Salzburg Whitsun Festival).
In addition to his upcoming vocal performances, Rolando returns to directing with a new production of Die Fledermaus at Deutsche Oper Berlin, which opens on April 28.
