Rolando Villazón rings in the new year with Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, bringing his “vocally assured” and “clownish, skillfully naive, but actually quite funny” (Der Opernfreund) portrayal of Gabriel von Eisenstein to audiences in Munich. Villazón joins an all-star cast in Barrie Kosky’s colorful, energetic production, praised as “a hit anchored somewhere between burlesque and vaudeville” (Bachtrack).

Singing under the baton of Nicholas Carter, Villazón is joined on stage by Rachel Willis-Sørensen and Diana Damrau as Rosalinde, Martin Winkler as Frank, Mirjam Mesak as Adele, John Holiday as Prinz Orlofsky, Pavol Breslik as Alfred, Konstantin Krimmel as Dr. Falke.

Die Fledermaus plays December 31, 2025 and January 3, 6, and 10, 2026.
