This August, Rolando Villazón appears in concert at several European venues, singing music that ranges from Baroque masterpieces to the drama of Verdi.

On August 2, Villazón joins the Capella Cracoviensis, led by Jan Tomasz Adamus, at the Bach Festival Swidnica. Capella Cracoviensis specializes in early music, Renaissance polyphonies, Polish Baroque, and classical chamber music, all played on period instruments. Villazón and the ensemble will present concert arias by Monteverdi and Mozart, as well as selections from Handel’s Serse and Tamerlano, Mozart’s Idomeneo, and Haydn’s L’anima del filosofo. The orchestra will also perform additional instrumental selections by Bach, Beethoven, and Haydn.

The tenor then travels to Germany, appearing August 5 for Märchenerwachen, an open-air concert at the ethereal Neuschwanstein Castle. Villazón shares the stage with soprano Golda Schultz and baritone Ludovic Tézier, performing a magical evening of music with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, under the baton of Omer Meir Wellber.

On August 9, Villazón is guest of honor at an Opera Gala at the historic Raesfeld Castle, where he’ll join the festival:philharmonie Westfalen and the festival:chor under the direction of Michael Zlabinger. The concert features some of opera’s most powerful moments, featuring music from Mozart to Verdi.
