‘Orfeo son io!’ comes to Hannover

On January 5, Rolando Villazón brings his program, Orfeo son io to Hannover’s Galerie Herrenhausen, together with the award-winning ensemble L’Arpeggiata, under the baton of Christina Pluhar. Soprano Celine Scheen and mezzo-soprano Luciana Mancini will also be featured. 

Featuring music by Claudio Monteverdi and his contemporaries, the program is part of Herrenhausen’s anniversary programming, celebrating the Galerie’s founding in 1675. 

Villazón is an acclaimed interpreter of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, a role he has sung previously at Semperoper Dresden, Santa Fe Opera, and Bayreuth Baroque.
